Dear Madame President,
We miss you so much. Till now, I cant help but cry whenever I see an article about you, whenever I see your picture, whenever I hear news about you.
I never had an encounter with you but I dont know why I feel like I am your daughter or probably your granddaughter. I am like a silent daughter still grieving for the loss of her mother.
Probably because you looked like my grandmother who passed away last January 22, 2008 because of diabetes. We would always tell her, "Lola Mommy, you really looked like Cory Aquino. Your face has the same features, your hair, your smile, the way you dress up and even your eyeglasses." But my Lola would answer, "Her nose is better than mine." And we would all laugh.
That is why whenever I see you in television, I would remember my Lola. When I heard last year that you were sick, I was really disappointed. I also felt the same way when my Lola was getting weaker. Since then I would always include you in my prayers. Always asking our Creator to give you a miracle. Whenever i hear that you were responding better to your medications, I am like a granddaughter who's happiness cannot be explained.
When I heard on the news that you went back to the hospital when you lost your appetite, I would not only pray at night but whenever I pass by a church when going to the office or whenever I see the altar at our office or whenever I see a yellow ribbon in EDSA.
Till that Saturday morning when I woke up. I turned on the television and it was all about you. I told myself, "No!She's not." I dont want to continue watching the TV because I dont want to know what is happening. But I know in my heart that you already left us. I was in denial.
Those days when your funeral was going on, I would always cry. I dont know but tears would just fall continuously on my face. The day of your burial was the most painful for me. I want to go at Manila Cathedral but I can't. I was watching the whole ceremony the whole day. When I saw the people marching in Quirino Avenue, I am telling myself that you must be very happy to see the Filipinos reunited again. I kept on saying "Tita Cory, tumayo ka na po dyan oh. Tignan mo po ung mga tao sama-sama ulit sila. Tayo ka na po."
But I do know that you are happier now. Ate Kris is right when she said that the true meaning of love is letting go of the one you love so that they will not feel any pain anymore.
Tita Cory, now that you are with our Creator, please tell Him to bless our country more and enlighten the Filipinos. I know that you've done enough praying for our country when you were still with us but I just want my fellow Filipinos to realize the importance of nationalism, just like how you showed us.
I miss your presence here on Earth, Tita Cory. I love you with all my heart. Philippines will never be the same now that you're gone but your legacy will always be with us.
See you there Tita Cory. I am hoping that you and my Lola would be the first two people to welcome me when its for me to go there too. I cant wait.
Love, Heidi
PS Pls hug my Lola for me as well. Pls tell her that I miss her so much. I know she would be delighted to see her "lost sister."
