My Father, Bernardo Banzon Tranate, was a politician during the time of ex-President Ramon Magsaysay. He was married to Francisca Miaco Tato. Both of them were born and raised in Balanga, Bataan. I could say that my mother walked a similar path that Tita Cory did – she consistently offered help to anyone who needed it: be it a passerby needing food or shelter for a day to her children of seven sons and one daughter. Regardless of the fact that all her children had their own families, she never failed to care & provide for them in any way she can. I clearly remember the day she suffered from a heart attack. I recall racing to to the hospital to be able to be at her side. When I got there, I was oblivious of everyone around me except for my first cousin, Dr. Mariano Tamorro. He called me to the other side of the room and told me in a very low voice that her condition was grave and that she had lost her will to drink any medicine. I was silently crying when I noticed four kinds of tablets on top of the table and conferred with my cousin if this was the medicine she had to take. He nodded. I immediately requested someone to buy a bottle of children liquid vitamin called Lysivit as well as a thick drinking glass in which I would be able to pulverize the tablets and mix it with the vitamin syrup. I begged my mother and whispered to her to help me by relaxing her jaw then through the small gap of her open mouth I inserted the tubular plastic siphon and squirted the mixture into her throat. Repeatedly, I managed to feed her with the mixture... I could see my cousin nodding at me with a smile, seeing my struggle to prolong my mother’s life. I retreated inside the restroom where I silently cried and prayed to our God to give my mother at least eight more years to live even in exchange for eight years of my lifespan. She survived and lived for another fifteen years. When the news broke out that Cory was diagnosed with cancer. I prayed really hard for her. I am a firm believer of God’s ultimate power. He was able to give life to a dead man, so for Him curing and extending the life of someone ill would be child’s play. However, with on and off releases of the medical reports about her, I started to imagine and feel the severe physical pains that she was suffering while the heartaches of the Aquino Family can be felt by all Filipinos. On the 31st day of July 2009, I attended the Friday mass in St. Mary’s Church here in Dubai. I must admit that in my silent prayer, I mentioned that we all know that Tita Cory had already lived a very meaningful life, that seemingly cannot be equalled by anyone among the dead and alive Presidents of the World. I pleaded to Him not to let this dreadful illness torment her and dent her flawless heroine image to the Filipino people but if it is God’s will for things to happen otherwise, He will definitely bless her in His Kingdom. In the early morning of August 1st 2009, I received a call from the Philippines with the sad news that Tita Cory had passed away. I closed my eyes and prayed silently for her soul. At 0630 hours of the same date, on my way to work, i found a bulky clutch bag in the parking lot and to my surprise, when I opened the bag to check for any information so I could contact the owner. I noticed thick wad of cash, some ID cards, credit cards as well as ATM card with jotted numbers which I presume were pin numbers. I told myself that the owner maybe just like me, so forgetful of pin numbers. Just as I expected, I found a business card which indicated his details – he is the current Vice-President of a known company which is a member of Dubai Holdings. I called him on his mobile phone and assured him that his bag is intact and safe. He told me of a scheduled 0900 hours flight to Europe and I told him that he would get his bag before his flight. After I gave him that assurance, i have sensed that, he likely wanted to ask me how he could settle things with me but he could not find the exact words. Without having a second thought,I told him that let us just consider this simple good deed as a gift or offering of Tita Cory when she comes face to face with our God. Several days of mourning, hundreds of e-mails, and daily masses but I could not think of any way to express or share my sympathy towards the Aquino family. It was on 16th of August 2009, when a flatmate reminded me about the envelope on top of our home altar. I remembered that sometime on the 6th of August someone delivered an envelope to our flat. It was a Thank You Card from Mr. Dirk Rossey, a Belgian national whose bag I returned a few days ago. His P.S. message which reads “Long Live the Spirit of Corizon !!!” touched me the most and inspired me to send this e-mail. This is a simple incident that generated a good deed which was inspired by Tita Cory who is blessed with admiration not only by the Filipinos but also by foriegn nationals. The Benigno – Corazon Aquino Family will always be a noble, worthy and inspirational world newsmakers. Please accept our heartfelt condolences,
Rogelio Miaco Tato Banzon Tranate

watching last night the Last Journey of Ninoy at ABS CBN made me realize that we owe so much to you and to your husband Ninoy. im sure.. d ganito ang buhay namin if not for your sacrifices. and for that, accept our deepest gratitude. im just a simple person with simple needs but living in a democratic country makes me feel like living close to heaven. i may sound OA but watching Ninoy's experiences while at Fort Magsaysay made me appreciate more the life i have now. thank you so much to you President Cory and to Senator Ninoy Aquino.

cory, back in 1983 when we paid our respects to ninoy at the sto. domingo church, i was privileged to have met you and talked to you. i will never forget your warm, sincere and firm handshake and your words, "huwag niyong kakalimutan si ninoy". i never did. i became part of the rallies, the jogging from mia [now naia] to luneta, to namfrel to edsa. all because of what you and ninoy stood for. thank you for touching our lives. thank you for standing for the truth, for freedom and democracy. thank you once more, madam president for waking up the people. totoong tao ka. now, i can say "hindi naming kakalimutan ikaw at si ninoy." your legacy moves on. to the children of ninoy and cory, our heart goes out to you, we cry with and for you. having lost my mom to cancer, i can truly empathize with you. we share with your grief. thank you for sharing your parents with us. let their torch pass on to you. God bless you.
